What is a Niche?

When creating a website beginners tend to make the mistake of targeting the huge keywords that they will never be able to compete against. This is where finding a niche comes in play.

Niche WebsiteInstead of focusing your website on the biggest keywords you should find a niche or a more direct website idea. For example if you liked cooking and planned on developing a website based on cooking instead of targeting the keyword “cooking” you would try to narrow it down to a more specified topic related to cooking like kitchen ware. Now if you find that kitchen ware is a little to crowded then you can narrow it down even further and find a smaller niche like spoons.

Finding a niche is essential to how successful your website may potentially become. Without one it’s extremely hard to compete against the big boys that pay SEO experts thousands to rank first for a keyword. Not all hope is lost! If you find a niche and dominate it by providing good content then there is nothing holding you back in terms of how much you could be making.
